Robert George



Robert G. Eddie, 82, of south Toledo, Lt. Colonel (retired) United States Army, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.

Robert graduated from the University of Toledo in 1960. In his 23 year military career, he served many places worldwide including Korea and Vietnam. He spent most of his time as a Special Forces Green Beret. Following his military career, Robert worked for National City Bank for 12 years, retiring as Vice-President of Operations. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, gardening, and all the special time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Darlene (Lange); his parents, Jesse C. and Louise W. Eddie; brother, Jack Eddie, and sister, Lois Lee. Surviving are his children, Richard (Phyllis) Eddie, Barbara (Ron) Orlowski, and Karen (Don) Pirtle; grandchildren, Josh (Ravelle) Eddie, Brian (Shannon) Eddie, Michael (Ashley) Eddie, Emily (Aaron) West, Jessica (Kyle) Scott, Nick Orlowski and Benjamin Pirtle; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Treyson, Theodore, Kalleigh, Annalyn and Elijah.

Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, on Monday, April 29, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
