Benjamin Rapp Obituary
Benjamin "Benny" F. Rapp, 88, of Deerfield, Michigan, and formerly of Bedford Twp., died Saturday, June 9, 2018, in The Toledo Hospital. Benny was born March 11, 1930, and was employed as a mechanic for the former Bob Schmidt Chevrolet for 33 years, retiring in 1995. The widower of Mary Lou Brown, he then married Carolyn "Sue" Napier on December 20, 1999. Benny's life was racing. He raced all over the country and the world.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; children, Michael F. (Mary) Rapp, Sharon Pergo, and Benjamin (Carolyn) Rapp, Jr.; stepsons, Robert (Kelly), Darin, and Jeffery Prielipp; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Sam, Kenny and Mikey Rapp.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.

I enjoyed working with Benny and following his racing career. I was the Service Director at Bob Schmidt. I'm sorry I will be unable to attend the services as I will be out of town, but I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. God bless, John Schaller

We raced with Benny in the American wing outlaw series throughout the Southeast, Georgia Alabama Tennessee North Carolina always a gracious gentleman and a class act it was a privilege to know Benny and may he rest in peace

I still talk about when us kids were little and going with him to race. And the green rv Lol! And then him introducing me to Bob Keslowski.

I remember Benny very well. We worked together at Bob Schmidt Chevrolet for 30 years. He was always talking about his racing experiences in Toledo Raceway. I am glad that we had the chance to work together and to share a few laughs and comments of our good times with these we worked with. I am so sorry to have another one of my friends depart.

I recall watching Benny race at Toledo Raceway Park and Toledo Speedway in the late 1950's.
