Charline Buehrer Obituary

BUEHRER

Charline P.

Charline P. Buehrer, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 7, 2014. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 3, 1930, to Harold and Alma Miller. As a youngster, Charline enjoyed campaigning for her father who served several terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. Charline graduated from Harvard Elementary School and Libby High School and attended The Ohio State University, Mary Manse College and the University of Toledo. Charline valued education and instilled its importance in young people, especially her children. She insisted that each of her children earn a college degree.

She was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee where she sang in the senior choir, taught Sunday school, served on committees and directed the Children's Choir.

On January 31, 1958, she married Huber Buehrer and together they raised six children. She was incredibly supportive of her husband's architecture and engineering career. With unconditional love Charline took great pride in being a mother and always had her children and grandchildren's best interest at heart. She was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit.

Charline loved all things Ohio State and was a past president of The Ohio State University Mothers Club. She enjoyed going to Saturday games in the Horseshoe and traveling to see bowl games. She was clearly one of the Buckeyes most "vocal" supporters.

She shared her talents with organizations she supported over her life. She was active in many organizations and was a past president of Samma Gamma. She was a Poll worker for decades after raising her children and cherished working as a child care provider for many wonderful families. Until her death she was active in managing several rental properties.

Charline enjoyed summers at one of her favorite places, Clear Lake Indiana, where she loved entertaining her children, grandchildren and numerous guests through the years.

Surviving Charline are her six children, Scott Buehrer (Suzanne), Cynthia Smith (Gregory), Kent Buehrer (Hong), Brent Buehrer (Michelle), Brett Buehrer (Dana), Trent Buehrer (Janice), and grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley and Lindsey Smith, Grant, Drew and Cate Buehrer, Madeline, Graeme and Charlotte Buehrer, and Adam and Jacob Buehrer. She also enjoyed the companionship of her pets, Scooter and Snowball. Charline was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson, Bradley Smith.

Family and friends will be received at Coyle Funeral Home 1770 S. Reynolds Road on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Rotary Club of Maumee Foundation.

I never met Mrs. Buehrer but I know her son Brett and I am sure she was the best mother as her son is a gem. I know she is missed and thoughts and prayers are with the family.
