AKENBERGER Don G. Don G. Akenberger, age 77, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away on Monday morning, November 30, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Unit. He was born in Moline, OH, on August 20, 1932, to Dale and Martha (Bahnsen) Akenberger. Don married Joanne Staniszewski on November 24, 1956 in Toledo, OH and she preceded him in death on October 1, 1994. He was an honorably discharged United States Army veteran. Don was a farmer and had also been employed as a crane operator for L.O.F. East Broadway Plant # 4. Don was a member of the Moose Lodge # 1487 in Wauchula, FL and in spare time enjoyed fishing, playing cards and in later years spending his winters in Bowling Green, FL. Don is survived by his brother, Ron (Peggy) Akenberger of Walbridge, OH; sisters, Jean (Lou) Snyder of Perrysburg, OH, Lois (Bob) Walters-Ebka of Napoleon, OH, Sharon (Willis "Woody") Bitter of Baudette, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joanne. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street Luckey, OH, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009. Officiating will be Rev. Alan Swartz. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery Walbridge, OH.
