On October 7, 2015, Richard (Dick) W. Lock was "promoted to Glory" from Sylvania, Ohio.

Dick was born on October 5, 1931, in New York City to Brigadier Albert and Catherine Lock, Salvation Army officers. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1953 with highest honors and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. In 1958, he received his MBA from NYU. He was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the USAF and served during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Air Force Commendation Ribbon while serving in the Air Defense Command.

At the end of his active military service, he was employed in NYC by Union Carbide. He was also employed by General Electric and St. Regis Paper Co. In 1962, he moved his family to Toledo, OH to work for Owens-Illinois as a computer system analyst. Dick retired after 26 years of service to O-I. During his career, he served as Corporate Director of Systems and Data Processing, General Manager of Electro-Optical Display, Treasurer, VP and Director of Corporate Planning and VP of Strategy and Asset Redeployment.

After retiring from O-I, Dick started a financial consulting business (Magnus Associates). During this period, he served on the boards of a number of public and private companies. He was a CPA, a member of FEI and was listed in Who's Who in America.

Dick was active in a number of non-profit organizations including the Salvation Army Advisory Board of NW Ohio where he served for over 40 years, several times as chairman; Lutheran Social Services including a term as chairman; American Legion; TAGRA; Mercy Health Partners; Torch; Riverside Hospital Foundation; and Youth Encounter. He also served as a member of church council and the financial committee chairman at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Sylvania where he was a member for over 35 years.

Dick was a huge sports fan faithfully following the NY Giants football team and the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He was a member of SABR and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

In 1957, Dick married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Louise Kenney. They were married for nearly 58 wonderful years.

Dick is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Albert and his wife, Song, Dorothy (Kuhl) and her husband, Kevin, John and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Matthew (Kuhl) and his wife, Emily, Emma (Kuhl), Kyle, Ashley and Laura; brother, David; brother-in-law, Bill Kenney, as well as several cousins and nephews, He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Lock, and his parents.

His family will receive friends at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 5 - 8 p.m. A memorial Service will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 7800 Erie St., Sylvania, Ohio on Monday, October 12, 2015, at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior to the service.
