William Craig, 95, passed away last month. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Jane and William Craig who brought him to America with his sister Jane and brother Robert. They preceded him in death. His brother, Robert Craig, was the Congressional Medal of Honor recipient for whom the Craig Memorial Bridge is named. Bill, a Libbey grad, was a talented and industrious man who worked for the Auto Lite, Toledo Scale, and taught at Macomber.

He'll be remembered by many as a band leader in the 40's and 50's, often playing at Kin Wa Lows, the Trianon and Lake Erie resorts. He and his beloved wife Alice, ran Craigs Grill and Grocery in Reno Beach for many years. They boated on Lake Erie and their last boat was a 142 foot mine sweeper docked in Port Clinton on which they resided until sailing to St. Mary's, GA. There they built a home where they lived for 30 years and enjoyed traveling to South America, Europe and back to Ohio. Alice died in 2007.

Bill is survived by his son, William (Rosa) Craig, Valencia, VZ and daughter, Beverly (Ron) Martin, Holland, OH. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
