Ahmad M. PhD
Ahmad M. Farhoud, 49, of Toledo, OH passed away without pain in the arms of those who love him most on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Born in Lebanon on May 29, 1963 to Mohamad and Jawhara Farhoud, Ahmad came to this country in 1982. A graduate of the University of Toledo, Ahmad earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. In 2000, he was appointed to the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Engineering Technology. Since then, he taught many courses and instructed numerous students, many of whom remained in contact with him after graduation. In 2006, he was promoted to Associate Professor and served as undergraduate program director for the Electrical Engineering Technology program. He was the advisor to the Tau Alpha Pi student honor society, and was actively involved in the Instrument Society of America Student Chapter. Ahmad had a passion for teaching, and was awarded the College of Engineering Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award, and received nominations for the University Outstanding Teaching Award. He brought a variety of experiences into the classroom, demonstrating the practical application of engineering to his courses. His teaching skills extended beyond the classroom, as he regularly turned his garage into a workshop as he mentored a number of student engineering design projects.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan (Kalell) Farhoud; his children, Mohammed, Julianna, and Joseph Farhoud; his mother, Jawhara; his brothers, Tahsin and Mahmoud; sisters, Sana, Raja, and Safa and their spouses and children as well as by numerous In-laws and extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by Islamic funeral prayers at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133) with burial in Highland Memory Garden in Waterville, OH.
