In the 1960s, Alex was a member of the Rooster Tail Chicken Band Radio Club. After he obtained his ham license, KB8DRG, he became a member of The Toledo Relay Radio Club. Alex was also a charter member with the Hitch-Hikers Motorcycle Club where he and Lauretta rode for many years. Alex worked for Thomas Excavating Co. through seven seasons before being hired by the city water division. He later transferred to the city sewer maintenance department where he retired after 29 years as a supervisor.
