Alfred A. ROSE Obituary
ROSE Alfred A. Alfred A. Rose, 101, died peacefully Monday afternoon, January 10, 2011, at Elizabeth Scott Assisted Living Community on Albon Road. He was born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1910, in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Harry and Winifred (Long) Rose. He is survived by his wife of 79 years, Elizabeth "Betty" [Dye] Rose; children, Roger (Sheila) of St. Louis, MO, John (Verna) of Waterville, OH, Sharon Kourous of Monroe, MI, David (Cindy) of Findlay, OH and Martin (Kathy) of Cincinnati, OH; also 12 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He spent his childhood years in the Point Place area of Toledo. In the '30s and '40s he was a volunteer fireman in the Point Place and Oregon Township fire departments. He and Betty raised their children in Oregon, Ohio, where he was employed by the Oregon Water Department, retiring in 1975. He spent many years in the carpentry trade and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby into his mid-nineties. He and his wife also enjoyed many years of camping and traveling throughout the United States and have lived in Frostproof, Florida, as well as Lagrange, Indiana. Visitation will be from 3p.m. to 7p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Peinert Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd, Waterville. Funeral services, Reverend Steven Rath officiating, will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Whitehouse Cemetery following the service.
