Alice F. Janatowski, age 95, passed away July 6, 2014, at the Franciscan Care Center, Sylvania. Alice was born in Toledo on October 2, 1918, to Joseph and Frances Dudek. Having lost her father at a very early age, her mother remarried to Stanley Zychowicz. Together they raised and loved her, her brother, Albin and sister, Patricia.
Alice married Jerome Janatowski on September 2, 1939. She worked 30 years for the former Ohio Bell Telephone Co, retiring in 1981. Alice loved to garden, read books and play cards. She was a member of the Toledo Telephone Pioneers, Franciscan Guild and was a long time member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
Alice is survived by her sons, Thomas and Gregory (Priscilla) Janatowski; grandchildren, Tamra, Janelle, Jason (Sonia) and Joel Janatowski; great-grandchildren, Marcus Hartford, Juliana, Jaron, Joaquin, Keiden Janatowski, Thomas Nowowiejski and many nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her fathers, Joseph Dudek and Stanley Zychowicz; mother, Frances Zychowicz; husband, Jerome; brother, Albin Dudek and sister, Patricia Kott.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where the family will receive visitors after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
