Alma R. Thielen, age 95, of Toledo, passed away on March 23, 2014. She was born in Monroeville, OH on June 25, 1918, to Clara and Charles Hillson. She was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing. Alma worked as a district nurse in Toledo and Detroit then in Brownwood, TX and Providence Hospital in Sandusky.

She was a charter member of St. Jude Church and served on its parish council, the Altar Rosary Society as President for four terms and many other church activities. She was also a volunteer nurse for the Red Cross Blood Donor program for many years, as well as presiding judge for her voter precinct. Mom's biggest joy was her family and she made every holiday special.

Alma is preceded in death

by her loving husband of 51 years, Francis; an infant son; sister, Bernice; brothers, Melvin and Gilbert. Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Dr. James (Patricia) Hillson; children, Gerald (Connie) Thielen, Patricia (Tom) Taylor, Thomas (Kathy Sullivan) Thielen and Teresa Hart; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Thursday, March 27, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, beginning at 10:15 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at Little Flower of Jesus Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
