Antha E. Mellott, age 87 years, of Wauseon, passed away Wednesday evening, January 2, 2013, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. Prior to her retirement she had worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 40 years, having worked at both the former Detwiler Hospital in Wauseon and then the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. She had also worked for the former Fulton Tubing in Archbold.
Antha was born in Cairo, Ohio on July 16, 1925, the daughter of Lawrence E. and Rosa (Morningstar) Lamb. She married Gene Mellott and he preceded her in death. Antha was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post #7424 in Wauseon, and the Wauseon American Legion Auxiliary, Post #265.
Surviving is her son, William (Beth) Mellott of Montpelier; two grandsons, Bryan (Capri) Mellott and Bradly Mellott; three great-granchildren, Quin, Myra, and Carter; brother, Dallas Lamb of Washington, DC; sister, Christine (Carl) Lay of Florida, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, both parents; two brothers, Keith Lamb and Bernard Lamb, and sister, Vivian Stoltz.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon, with Jerry Smith, officiating Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
