Bette Jane (Thal)
Bette Jane (Thal) Greenberg, 92, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on October 9, 2013. A life long Toledo resident, Bette was born to Julia and Max Thal. On July 5, 1941, she married Sidney Greenberg. During WWII, while Sidney was on active duty with the Army, Bette took over the responsibility of managing their appliance business, Square Deal Radio. The Toledo Blade commended her in an article as one of the first women to take control of a business. After the war, Bette continued to work side by side with her husband until he retired at age 84. She enjoyed playing cards and Mah Jongg with her friends. Bette will be best remembered for her charm and sense of humor. She was a member of the Temple Shomer Emunim.
She is survived by her daughters, Marla Kreider (Andrew) of Fayetteville, GA, and Janet Greenberg-Gormley (Joseph) of Lambertville, MI. Bette wished to give thanks to her nephew, Bernie Greenberg, for his loving support after the death of her beloved Sidney, and to angels, Gail Vrooman and Maureen Stiles, who helped her to remain in her home her last few years.
A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at her daughter's home in Lambertville, MI following services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Toledo Humane Society, Temple Shomer Emunim, or Ebied Hospice, Sylvania, OH. Arrangements by the Robert H.
