Carl Clement Teipel, Jr.

Loving husband, father and prominent Toledo businessman Carl C. Teipel Jr. passed away peacefully at his Sylvania, OH home at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018.

Mr. Teipel was born in Toledo on November 27, 1922 to Carl C. and Grace Wilcox Potter Teipel Sr. He grew up attending Perrysburg public schools, Maumee Valley Country Day School, and graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, PA in 1940. He received his BA from Cornell University and served in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946 as a Lieutenant in the US Navy.

Carl Teipel's professional career was distinguished. In 1947, he joined his father's Insurance and Real Estate business on historic Madison Avenue in downtown Toledo. Later he was President of Teipel & Brown Realtors & Insurance, Vice-President of Welles-Bowen Realtors, and was the Vice President and a managing broker of The Danberry Company until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Teipel was also past president of the Toledo Board of Realtors, Toledo Association of Insurance Agents and the Maumee Rotary Club where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Toledo Country Club and the Leland (MI) Country Club.

Mr. Teipel was honored recently when he was transported by the Honor Flight Network to visit the new WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.

Mr. Teipel is survived by his wife, Donna; by children, Dorothea Teipel, Christopher (Ruth) Teipel, Joseph (Miho) Teipel, Christina (Rj) Teipel, Lucy Lambert, Katherine (Bill) Pettit, Bruce (Diane) Munger, Scott Munger, Marcy (Brian) McMahon, Jeffrey Gross, Jacqueline Cartner, and James (Sharon) Gross; by 17 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, by his sister, Geraldine Ashley and by his great-granddaughter, Olive Teipel.

Carl loved God through His Son Jesus Christ and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, OH.

Visitation will begin at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth Street, Maumee, OH 43537 on Thursday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Julie Beitelschees. Interment at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery follows the service.
