SPEAR Carolyn M. Carolyn M. Spear, born October 10, 1925, of Point Place, passed away November 10, 2010 in Hospice care. Carolyn graduated from Waite High School with honors. She married Burton Spear in 1950. She enjoyed being a mother to her three sons, a Cub Scout den mother, she taught Sunday school, and volunteered at Riverside Hospital for many years. She enjoyed traveling with Burton to many countries around the world. Carolyn was instrumental in helping Burton prepare and publish 27 volumes of genealogy research on the ship, The Mary & John 1630. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Spear and son, Kevin Spear; parents, Walter and Buleau Ruch; sister, Madeline; brothers, Robert and Richard Ruch and nephew, Walter Ruch. She is survived by sons, Gary, Craig (Dixie); grandchildren, Ryan, Lyndsay and Adam Spear, Harmony Turner (Mike), Shannon Suter (Misty) Cameron Suter; great-grandchildren, Madison, Tylor, Mira and Finn; several nephews and nieces, and special friends, Ruby Reed, Marge Jewson, Sugar and David Hunkins, Alice Oberly, John and Molly Mueller. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be observed at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 17, at Point Place United Church of Christ at 117th and 297th Streets, with Rev. Robert Wuellner. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Point Place United Church of Christ.
