Charles W. "Chuck" Smalley

Charles W. "Chuck" Smalley, 78, of Walbridge, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, August 10, 2018. Chuck was born on July 4, 1940 to John and Florence (Slentz) Smalley in Cadiz, OH. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving as a Paratrooper. He married the former Jane A. Sprengelmeyer on September 4, 1965 in Hammond, IN and she survives. Chuck worked as a Millwright for Jeep retiring in 2001. Together, he and Jane traveled to Australia, Arizona and Alaska and wintered in Florida for many years. He loved woodworking and building small furniture and bunkbeds for his grandchildren, adorned with footballs and hearts. He loved riding his Harley, taking many trips to Sturgis and attending many Bike Week rallies. Chuck was a proud Friend of Bill W. since 1990.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jane; sons, David C. (Lori) Smalley, Douglass B. (Angi) Smalley; grandchildren, Jacob, Amanda, Noah, Elizabeth, Victoria and Jackson; siblings, John "Kenny" (Sue) Smalley, Shirley Collier, Donald (Jeri) Smalley, Roger Smalley, and Susan Sulek; brother-in-law, Hank Baker; and sister-in-law, Charlene Smalley.

He was preceded by his parents, John and Florence; brothers, Larry and Ronald "Tom" Smalley; and sister, Leota Baker.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121). A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Promedica Hospice.
