David Sheridan Jamison

David Sheridan Jamison, 91, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018. Formerly of Perrysburg, OH, he had been a Bonita Springs resident since 1994. He was born December 19, 1926 in Sandusky, OH, the son of Robert and Margaret (nee Fisher) Jamison.

After graduating from Sandusky High School in 1945, David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in post-war Germany. A 1950 graduate of Bowling Green State University, he lettered in swimming and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. While at BGSU, he met his precious wife of 66 years, Bernice. They married on August 6, 1949, and made their home in Perrysburg, OH.David retired in 1992 as president of Service Products Buildings, Inc., one of the nation's leading contractors for Butler Manufacturing Company. David's strong work ethic, boundless optimism and friendly, outgoing personality served to make him an outstanding salesman. During his forty years with SPBI, he earned many sales awards, including Butler's Award of Distinction. After moving to Florida, David established his own company, Metal Building Marketing Consultants, Inc., working well into his eighties.A longtime member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, he served as church council president in 1984. He belonged to Toledo Country Club and The Toledo Club.In Florida, David became an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, where he served as a deacon. He formed many friendships as a member of the Bonita Springs Men's Club and Pelican's Nest Golf Club, and in the last few years as a charter resident of The Terraces at Bonita Springs.David loved to travel. When their daughters were young, he and Bernice took a family vacation every year to destinations all over the country. Later, they traveled to many countries in Europe, often accompanied by their daughter, Kimberly.David had a great sense of humor and an easy, infectious laugh. He possessed a gift for putting others at ease and engaging them with amusing stories.His two grandsons, Scott and Andy, adored their grandpa and will treasure memories of countless hours spent playing volleyball with Grandpa in the pool, building sandcastles at the beach, playing miniature golf or just spending time together.David lived a life filled with joy, love, friendship and laughter. He was a caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather. David was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.David is survived by his loving daughters, Shelley A. (David) McMacken of Sylvania, OH and Kimberly S. Jamison of Ft. Myers, FL; his dear sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Richard) Schenk of Huron, OH; and two cherished grandchildren, Scott (Damali "Dee") McMacken and Andy McMacken.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Irene (nee George) Jamison in 2015, and his brothers, Robert (Doris) Jamison and Donald (Irene) Jamison.David was laid to rest next to Bernice in the Resurrection Garden of First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, OH where the family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs or Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, OH.Online condolences may be offered at
