Dennis C. 9/19/50 - 5/20/14

Dennis Ayers passed away on May 20, 2014, after a short illness. Dennis was a kind but complicated man who lived his life fully but much too fast.

Dennis was an avid outdoors man, who in his younger years enjoyed fishing, hunting and other antics with his older brother, Tim. Some of his fondest memories were those of time spent in the western Michigan countryside. Dennis was also an excellent cook who delighted in treating his family and friends to holiday meals he lovingly prepared.

Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Waite High School where he lettered in varsity wrestling. He was a U.S. military veteran, serving his country in the Navy in the Vietnam War, which gave him the opportunity to travel in the Far East. The early years of his career included time spent managing a small restaurant and working at the beloved Beer Barrel. Dennis finished his career at Bowser-Morner working as a technician. He also took pride in being a Friend of Bill W. for the past 30 years.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Clifford C. Ayers and Vivian Reynolds (James) Craig, and siblings, Kathleen Clarke and Timothy P. Ayers. He is survived by brother, Mike (Karen) Craig; sister, Colleen (Rudi) Ziegler; step-sisters and brother, Jane (Dennis) Mathias, Julie Craig and Jim Craig; brother-in-law, Scott Clarke; three children, many nieces and nephews and special friend and devoted partner, Debbie Billings.

Services and interment will be private.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider The Old Newsboys or the SeaGate Food Bank.
