Donald F. Humbarger, age 93, of Maitland, FL, previously of Monroe, MI and Winter Springs, FL, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, in Orlando, FL, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Amber, MI on April 8, 1920, to Henry and Bessie Faye (Griswold) Humbarger. Donald was a 1937 graduate of Hicksville, High School. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he fought bravely in the

Asiatic-Pacific Campaign of World War II. Donald was a survivor of the USS Little DD803 which was attacked on May 3, 1945 and sunk off the coast of Okinawa. For his service to his country, he was awarded three battle stars and a medal for good

conduct. After returning home, Donald established his own bakery, Don's Home Bakery, which was located at 606 Lagrange St. He also worked as a baker and kitchen manager for the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for 32 years in Monroe, MI.

Donald was a proud member of the Tin Can Sailors and the American Legion Post 0060. He was an active member of the Monroe and Frenchtown senior citizens including participating in their bowling league. Donald enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards and traveling.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary (Covill) Humbarger; sons, Donald "Mick" (Sharon) Humbarger and David (Lori) Humbarger; grandchildren, Kristin (David) Markle, Bryan (Sarah) Humbarger, Stephanie (Rick) Brooks and Sean (Lisa) Humbarger; great-grandchildren, Grace, Greta, Eloise, Jonathan, Andrew, Elyssa and Liam. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna, Mae and Vera; and brothers, Archie, Luther, Forest, Ralph and Cecil Humbarger.

Family and friends may visit Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Bux presiding. Services will conclude with Military Honors by the Lucas County Burial Corp in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
