Dorothy Blank, of Temperance, MI, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, one day before her 85th Birthday, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on May 10, 1928, in Toledo, OH, to Walter and Stella (Jastrzemski) Szajkowski. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Donald Blank, in 1949. Being a Polish wife and mother, Dorothy took great pride in her immaculate housekeeping as well as her traditional cooking and baking abilities, for which she was well known. She worked at the Toledo Swim Club as a secretary/ bookkeeper and in the same position for the family business, Bladon Heating and Cooling, for 30 years. Dorothy was a very involved and treasured member of the St. Agnes Parish Community. She was president of the Altar Rosary Society, Parish Council, and chairman of the Finance Committee, her specialty being fundraising and budgets. Dorothy was also chairman of the blood bank, a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, and a member of the Salesians. She enjoyed playing pinochle with other ladies of the parish at their monthly club. Dorothy was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Blank and Elizabeth Blank; sons, Richard (Debra) Blank, Robert (Monica) Blank, and Thomas (Susan) Blank; sister, Suzanne Kulczak; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve) Super, Melissa Blank, Donald Blank, Katherine Blank, Tony Blank, Beth Blank, Emily Blank, and Zebedee Blank; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Jacob, Dexter, Nicholas, Andrew, and Lily. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; sisters, Sr. Rachel OSF, Lillian Krajewski, and Philomena Slavin; and brothers, Clement Slavin and Larry Slavin.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Carmel Church, Temperance, MI, preceded by visitation in the church from 10-11 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
