Edna L. Harris, 86, of Toledo passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Edna was born on July 6, 1926, in Kentucky to David and Ada Carmony. Edna was extremely proud of her first job. As a young teenager, Edna was an electrician's assistant in the construction of the icebreaker, USS Macinaw. Edna was a punch press operator at Toledo Stamping and retired after 38 years of service. Edna was happiest when her family and friends were around her. She enjoyed cooking and her baked beans were always a special request at family functions.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ted J. Harris, and her siblings, Lester, Charles, Jeraldine and Aleene. Surviving is her loving husband of 66 years, Martin L. Harris, and son, James H. (Marilyn) Harris; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sherry) Harris, James (Melanie) Harris, Corey (Keri) Harris and Holly (Jon) Chapp; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evan, Ryan, Kaylee, Zachary, Chase and Brody Harris and Evan and Mya Chapp. Also surviving are her siblings, Hazel Hardy, Louise (Don) Boltz, Ray (Barbara) Carmony and Virgil (Joyce) Carmony. In addition, Edna leaves many nieces and nephews who all loved her.
Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., on Monday, November 19, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial donations in Edna's memory be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
