Edward Cutcher Obituary

CUTCHER Edward Ed, "Fast Eddie", enjoyed an amazing full life. He owned and operated Ed Cutcher's Automotive in the east side of Toledo for over 30 years. He was blessed with many loyal customers that he referred to as friends. He often worked side by side with his two sons and his wife. Ed enjoyed a life long passion in mechanics and cars. His career in mechanics worked hand in hand with his hobbies and love for speed. He enjoyed drag racing earlier in his career but ultimately found his destiny on the water. Any summer weekend Ed could be found out on his Offshore Powerboat with his family. Ed had a passion for athletics. He was an avid basketball player and enjoyed those who played with him. He loved watching his sons playing athletics, particularly football. Ed's 7 year old grandson "Little Eddie" became PaPa's best friend. He spent most of his free time with his grandson. The love of his life was his wife, Bette Ann. His family was his number one priority. They had many memorable moments together. Ed and Bette Ann enjoyed frequent travels to southern Florida, where Ed had hopes to retire in the future. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Bette Ann; sons, Eddie (Melissa) Cutcher, Bryan (Tiffany) Cutcher; grandson, Eddie James Cutcher; brothers, Butch, Bobbie, Donald, David, Tommy, Jimmy, Michael, Ricky; sisters, Micky, Patty, Barb, Joanne; mother-in-law, Margaret Cousino; sisters-in-law, Cindy, Kathleen; brother-in-law, Robert; special friend, Bob. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John, and father-in-law, James Cousino. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio, on Saturday from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Services will be private. Expressions of sympathy in Eddie's memory can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor. www.egglestonmeinert.com

Dear Cuther Family,
I was a stranger to Ed, 26 years ago when my first husband died. Keeping the car running was my husband's job. On my first visit to Ed's shop, he told me that he remembered my husband from school and had always liked him. (That felt so good to hear.) Ed went out of his way to put me at ease, as though he knew how hard it was for me to be there. It wasn't just that he fixesd my car (in the beginning and for years after that)... he let me know that the kids and I were safe with him. Somehow he knew that feeling safe was very important.

We will miss him very much. He was a special person.

We pray for your peace.

To the Loved ones of the Dearly Departed,
This untimely death had a rippling affect in the hearts and minds of people far and near. Without having met Ed, it is easy to infer his strength, importance, and leadership among his family and community. I hope that the love for Ed that will forever remain in your hearts can permit you some comfort from the despair of your loss. Please know that he is among you. And the community will remember and honor him for the amazing character he was.

Please accept our love and sympathy for your loss. We knew Ed since he was 12 years old and worked on our farm with his brothers John and Bobby. He also fixed the family's cars, including Tom's daughters, for many years. We surely hope that the many joys and rememberances help you through this difficult time. May God bless you now and forever.

March 28, 2007

When I was 13 years old, Ed became like a father figure to me. He took Mike and I under his wing and taught us all about cars. He took the time to teach us and answer our questions. He never got angry when we messed up. He believed in us and always looked for the good in everyone. He taught us that through hard work, we could achieve anything. He cared about people and didn't think twice about helping someone down on their luck. I enjoyed working for Ed, joking around with him and listening to his stories. He was a great man, friend, husband and father. Ed will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

May God continue to bless and watch over Ed's family and friends
while they await their time to join him in Paradise.

To the family of Eddie. Everyone knows how great Eddie was, but he was a special friend to me. When I drove for UPS, he would drop everything he was doing in the shop and would pull me out of the snow during the great blizzard. More than once on the same day. For he knew how important my job was. When I had breakdowns during the day, Eddie was always there before our automotive department would arrive to the East Side. Eddie dropped work again and came to the marina to fix my boat, which the mechanics at the marina could not solve or fix. These are a few of my Eddie stories. Eddie was the East Side Guardian Angel, and will still be looking out for all of us. I truely will miss having the ocassional beer and many laughs throughtout our years. What a distictive smile and laugh he had. I will miss you good buddy.
