Ethel "Bernice" Blackmore, 80, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at The Kingston of Perrysburg. She was born on October 2, 1933, to James and Leah (Hounsell) Gulliver in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.
Bernice worked for Ayers Department Store in St. John's for 6 years. She met her husband Harold while he was serving in the US ARMY in Canada. They married August 12, 1958, and enjoyed 55 years together. Bernice and Harold moved to South Toledo, where they raised their 3 children.
Bernice was known for her beautiful flower gardens in her yard, especially her roses. She loved being outside in the sunshine, swimming in her pool, working in her garden and strolling down the street to the neighborhood garage sales. She loved playing slot machines and playing BINGO every Friday night. Bernice was a wonderful babysitter and child care provider to many families for over 30 years.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Harold; daughter, Debera Hartman, and sons, Robert (Janet) and Douglas (Christine) Blackmore; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Melvia Wadden, and brothers, Jim (Vivian), Reginald and Ira Gulliver. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Fred, Jean, Dorothy and Jack.
