Francis G. (Knarf)
Francis George Longeway, age 69, beloved husband and father of 8, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2013, at EBEID Hospice. He was born April 25, 1943, to George and Frieda Longeway. Frank graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961.
Frank loved to bowl and is credited with starting the Across the River Tournament. One of Frank's passion was volunteering at Toledo Zoo, where he was Volunteer of the Year in 2007. He loved educating people about the animals he handled. Most of all, Dad loved spending time with his wife and kids and enjoyed having fun with family and friends. He spent a lot of time at St. Clement's Parish involved in Boy Scout's and also coaching softball. He worked tirelessly helping raise money by volunteering for festivals and other activities.
Frank was employed at Toledo Jewelers in various capacities before moving on to his passion of working in the Bowling Industry. He was highly respected for his ability to plan and arrange tournaments with fresh ideas. As a great people person he brought in a lot of sponsorship for leagues and tournaments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy; his sister, Lois Ann, and brother-in-law, Paul Dick. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; children, Dennis (Karen), Patti (Scott) Smotherman, Sheryl (Charlie), Deck, Charlie (Zandra), Tammy (Todd) Turley, Bobby (Beth), Tanya (Rob) Redway and Anthony; step-son, Michael; sister-in-law, Lori; 17 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, with three on the way; 10 nieces and nephews; 32 grandnieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Snickers.
A Celebration of Frank's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagle in Rossford, Ohio on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, with a luncheon to follow from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. FOE is located at 658 Lime City Rd, Rossford, Ohio 43460.
