Frank S.

Frank S. Cole, small business owner, community activist and World War II veteran, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 10, 2012. He was 86. Born to Charlie and Minnie Cole in Meridian, MS on May 22, 1926, the family moved to Toledo, OH when he was a teenager. Shortly thereafter, Frank joined the U.S. Army. After being discharged he returned to Toledo, married and moved his wife and children to Brooklyn, NY for several years. Upon returning here in the 1950s, Frank attended Third Baptist Church and the University of Toledo. He retired from the City of Toledo where he worked as an electrician. Frank then pursued several entrepreneurial endeavors in the 1970s and 80s, which included a television/radio repair shop and a record shop. He was known as an outspoken community activist and champion for the betterment of his community. Bowling, bridge and driving across country were among his favorite pastimes. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Bertha Bragg. Frank leaves behind another sister, Mamie J. Jones, Albany, NY. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Rev. Carol L. Cole, Tampa, FL and Desaray Robinson, Toledo, OH, and 3 sons, Rev. Charles A. Cole (Michelle) Santa Barbara, CA, Samuel C. (Martha) Gray, Booneville, MS and Colin Williams, Toledo, OH. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Wake services are 5 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, followed by funeral services at 6 p.m. at The House Day Funeral Home.
