Gene E. McMorgan ("Mac"), age 82, long time resident of Toledo, died peacefully on May 6, 2013, in Scottsdale, Arizona after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on September 15, 1930, to Doris (Knitz) and William McMorgan.

Gene was a 1948 graduate of Waite High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and earned a purple heart. He worked at Sun Oil Refining Company in Oregon for 38 years retiring in 1988. The University of Toledo football and basketball teams were a big passion for Gene. He was a member of Hampton Park Christian Church.

Gene was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary; daughter, Sue (Jim) Haas; grandsons, Andrew (Becky) Haas and Steven Haas; step great-grandchildren, Brennan and Lexi; brother, Richard McMorgan and many nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his parents and sisters June Feller and Carol Brown.

Our sincere thanks to Premier Hospice for such excellent care. Nurse Mary, aide Donnie, Chaplin Jeff and Tiffany, we could not have made it through the last five months without you.
