Gloria H. (Amicarelli) Wumer

Gloria Helen (Amicarelli) Wumer passed away at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania on August 9, 2018 at the age of 84.

Gloria is predeceased by her husband, James Henry Wumer, father, Pasquale Amicarelli, mother, Filomena Amicone Amicarelli, and her brothers Joseph Amicarelli and Steven Amicarelli.

Gloria is survived by her children Kimberly Benner (Bryan), Julie Mesdag (Phillip), Ty Wumer (Christina), and Wendy Speweike. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kyle Benner, Caitlin Benner (Josh Griffiths), Michael Mesdag, Camille, Jessica, Jackson, and Lucas Speweike, and Kayla, Kelsey, and Casey Wumer. She has one great grandchild, Truman Griffiths.

Gloria is lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Robert Lange and sister-in-law Sharon Wumer. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and wonderful lifelong friends.

Gloria was born in Youngstown, OH on January 3, 1934. She graduated from East High School in 1952 and went on to earn her Registered Nurse Certificate from Trumball Memorial School of Nursing in Warren, OH. She eventually went on to earn her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Toledo. She was the first in her family to earn an advanced educational degree. She began her career in nursing at the State Hospital in Toledo, OH. From there she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at The Toledo Hospital and finished her career working as a School Nurse for the Washington Local School District.

Gloria's family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania and Ohio Living Hospice. She resided at Kingston for the past 4 years. The staff of both agencies became her family and treated her with the same respect as if she were their own mother. Gloria's family is extremely grateful for all of their care, concern and support.

Those that knew Gloria, even peripherally, experienced her joy of living and zest for life. She will leave a legacy of memories and stories to all her knew her.

For those wishing to share their stories or listen to others, please join us at the Castillo Funeral Home, 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. where a Celebration of Her Life will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
