Grace Luceal

Grace King, 97, of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the Fulton Manor in Wauseon. She was born on August 6, 1915, in rural Pettisville, Ohio, the only daughter of Charles and Hannah (Freyenberger) Schmucker. In 1938, Grace married Willard Wyse King.

Grace and Willard raised their family on a dairy farm north of Pettisville, Ohio. In 1980, they moved to a farm northwest of Wauseon, in Chesterfield Township.

Grace and Willard were members of the West Clinton Mennonite Church and in the 1940's helped establish Springfield Township Mennonite Church near Toledo, Ohio, serving there faithfully for 30 years. They later became members of Inlet Mennonite Church in Chesterfield Township. Grace knew Jesus as her personal Savior and trusted him for her daily strength. She will be remembered for her faith, courage, love and prayers for others.

Grace cherished the time she could spent with her family, whether at ball games, vacations, graduations or weddings.

Grace continued to live on the farm after Willard died until July of 2011, when she suffered a stroke which affected her speech and mobility. She moved to Fulton Manor in Wauseon. Although her mind was clear, it was hard for her to communicate. She kept her sense of humor and ready smile, a sign of the deep peace within her heart.

Grace is survived by three children, Charlene (Will) VanPelt of Columbiana, Ohio, Judy (Wendell) Selzer of Kansas City, Missouri, and Dan (Lynette) King of Minooka, Illinois; seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three children, Robert Eugene, Ruth Ann and David Lee; a grandson, Justin King, and four brothers, George, Harold, Earl and Carl Schmucker.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held at the West Clinton Mennonite Church on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. with Rick Jones officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. Burial will take place at the Pettisville Cemetery prior to the service at Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Youth For Christ or The National Aphasia Association.
