Harold F. Zink, 92, of south Toledo passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Born in Toledo to Clarence and Ora Zink, Mr. Zink was a graduate of Libby high school and received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toledo and also attended Harvard, Columbia and MIT. He worked for Owens Illinois his entire career and was the author of several patents.
Mr. Zink served in WWII and was a Lt. Colonel instructing pilots in night flying from 1942-45. He then served as a Captain in the Marine Corps reserve until June 1951. A longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Harold enjoyed everything outdoors and was a lifelong avid fresh water and salt water fisherman. He will be remembered for his love of life, his intelligence, and sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma Maxwell Zink; children, Jon Zink and Marcy (Tom) Orchard; grandchildren, Amy and Mallory Zink, Kiley Orchard; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Zink, and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 26, 2012, starting at noon with services beginning at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1825 Glendale Ave., Pastor James Wicker officiating. Memorials may be given to the church or to a
