Ida Catherine Murray
Ida Catherine Murray Burks, age 100, passed away January 30, 2013, at Otterbein Skilled Nursing and Rehab Neighborhood in Perrysburg, OH. Born in Chicago, IL, she moved to Toledo as an infant and graduated from Libbey High School in 1931. As a young woman, she lived in Philadelphia, PA for some years, but spent most of her life in Toledo. She was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church since 1917, and a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center retiring in 1975. Mrs. Burks enjoyed world travel, scrap booking, collecting antiques and photos, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luellen Burks in 1982 and leaves to cherish her memory grand-niece, Cathy (Kenneth) Walton of West Bloomfield, MI; grand-nephew, Stephen (Camille) Combs; great-nephew, Jordan Combs; cousins, Calvin Banks Jr., Robert Banks Sr. (Imogene), Darian Banks; step-grandson, Ronald (Lissette) Mosley of Altadena, CA; goddaughters, Joel (Bob) Martin of Scottsdale, AR, Ollie Green of Roxie, MS, Marie Boykin, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services 11:00 a.m. Grace Presbyterian Church, 1171 Oakwood Ave., Rev. Ruby Radford officiant. Interment at Forest Cemetery.
The family would like to thank home health aide, Gayle Bayes, for the loving care extended to Mrs. Burks while she resided at Pelham Manor. Special thanks to the staff at Otterbein Skilled Nursing and Rehab for the excellent and dignified care our loved one received for the past two years.
