James J. Riddle, age 77, of Toledo, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on August 15, 2013.
He was born to Donald and Loretta (Grimes) Riddle on March 15, 1936. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1954 and then went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58. Jim served 2 of his 4 years on the U.S.S. Blair with his brother, Don. After his discharge, he married Leona Castonguay in 1958 and together they raised 3 children. He spent his career working in construction and demolition in the Toledo area, until the time of his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion Post #257, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Tin Can Sailors. Jim enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, golfing and fishing.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lee; parents, and niece, Colleen. He is survived by his children, Renee (Floris) Wood, Karen McCrory and James D. Riddle; grandchildren, Nicole and Ben Schultz, Kari and Jade Ramirez, Andrew McCrory and Tyler and Jaymes Riddle; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Nanci) Riddle; sister, Suzanne Riddle.
Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Sunday, August 18, 2013, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013, at Epiphany of the Lord/St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White St., Toledo, OH 43605 at 10:00 a.m., where the family will begin receiving friends at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
