James Thomas, 75, passed away November 13, 2012, at his home. Born in Moultrie, GA, he graduated from Woodward High School and retired from Chrysler Corporation as a supervisor in the body shop after 22 years of service. After retirement in 1996, he joined CTA as a courier. He again retired in August of 2012. James was a faithful member of New Bethel COGIC where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Barbretta Thomas; his mother, Rosa Huntley; brother, Danny Thomas, and sister, Eve Logan. He leaves to cherish the love of his life wife of 51 years, Barbara Thomas; daughters, Roxanne Smith, Joyce Thomas, and Denisha Lonas; sons, James and Michael Thomas; brother, John Huntley; sister, Betsy McNeal; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; goddaughters, Kimberly Bell, Rosemary Bias and Loretta Dwight; best friend, Tommie Lee Woods; special friend, Scott Johnson; special sons, Jake Hackett, David Darnell and Ray Woodson, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday 5 - 8 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, family hour Wednesday 11 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12 noon New Bethel COGIC, Pastor Rance Allen officiant, interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
