John Wodarski Obituary

WODARSKI

John T.

John T. Wodarski of Holland, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, Ohio at the age of 51. He is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John was born on February 11, 1961, to Thomas L. Sr. and Sylvia (Ulinski) Wodarski. In 1979 he graduated from Springfield High School and was a member of the 180th Air National Guard for 6 years. On October 20, 1984,

he married his best friend

and love of his life, Debbie

CaHow. They would have celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary this October.

John was previously employed at Charlie's Dodge and was the used car manager for Jim White Toyota. He was an active member of AA for 23 years where he made many lasting friendships, and was an avid motorcyclist and Rune enthusiast, riding as far south as Key West, FL and New Orleans, LA, as far north as Maine, as far west as Sturgis, SD, and many trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains. He also rode in Rolling Thunder and was a member of the Iron Butt Association. His dream was to ride his bike to Alaska. He has left a void in our hearts but our loss is his gain because we know he has his Gold(en) Wing(s).

John was preceded in

death by his father, Thomas

L. "Woody" Wodarski Sr.,

and mother-in-law, Shirley

CaHow. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Debbie; mother, Sylvia Wodarski; brother, Thomas (Brenda) Wodarski Jr.; sister, Cindy Creech; nieces, Allison (Aaron) Hubbard, and

Alicia Wodarski; nephew,

Christopher Creech; great-nephew, Vaughn Hubbard; sisters-in-law, Cheri Shouldice, Kay CaHow, and Bonnie Fritz; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Sharon) CaHow Sr., and friends too numerous to mention.

A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Urbanski Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio. Online condolences can be shared at

urbanskifuneralhome.com

Memorials may be sent to the Open Door Ministries, 2823 Cherry St., Toledo, Ohio 43608.

Just found out about John. I knew him as a friend for several years in school at Springfield, going back to 1976. Nice guy, strong as an Ox, obviously left a good family in place to carry on. But, far too short of a life for someone like him. Without question, he should still be here. I am very sorry for the loss of this man to all.

Dear Uncle John,

I don't think anyone can really understand that you won't be here anymore. "Anymore" is so big, and untouchable, and hard to grasp. What's almost worse is thinking that you won't be here for little things. I wish you could meet Vaughn. He's amazing, and I wish you could see how the whole family enjoys just watching him lie there, how everyone marvels at his every move. I wish you could be there on Thanksgiving. I wish that I could complain about having to wait for your turn opening presents on Christmas, and hear all your ridiculous comments on people's gifts. I wish I could repeat the same conversation about why U2 is a great band. In some ways, I wish you could be here now. You would be very, very proud of how strong your wife and your mom and the rest of your family are. You would be proud of how much we all love you.

So sorry to read of John's passing. He was highly respected when he spoke in AA meetings and I enjoyed motorcycle riding with him. He and I had the only Hondas in the group. Use to kid him that I was gonna put a "Toledo Public Schools" banner on the sides of that bright 'school bus' yellow Gold Wing. He was a great friend.

John was a good man and I'm grateful that our paths crossed. We worked and played many years together at Charlie's, and he was there to welcome me into the rooms two months after he began his journey. His words of wisdom and his dry wit will be missed.

Goodbye Jaydub, and rest in peace my friend.
