Joseph M. Peters, 46, of Tampa, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 27, 2012, after a courageous, year long battle with heart disease. Joe passed at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 1, 1966, in Waukegan, IL to Francis M. and Kathleen Peters.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Rachel; his 3 beloved children, Isabella 9, Joey 7, and Joshua 3, and his siblings, Teri Allen of Charles City, IA, Sharon McLean of Centennial, CO and Mark Peters of Charles City, IA.

After graduating from Loras College Dubuque, IA in 1989, Joe began a 24 year Journalism career that took him from U.S. Cable in Chicago, IL, to WBBH-TV Ft. Myers, FL, KSAZ-TV Phoenix, AZ, WXYZ-TV Detroit, MI, and WTVT-TV Tampa, FL. He was an Emmy Award winning News Photographer who was highly respected for his work ethic and experience.

Joe's passion was his family; their vacations together, along with fun afternoons at the beach. His video camera was a constant companion as his children grew. He was a diehard Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, but Notre Dame was his number one.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home 6802 Silvermill Drive, Tampa, 33635, 813-814-4444 from 5-7 p.m. A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church 2405 Philippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, 34695, 727-726-8577.
