Juanita Mae Dittman passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the age of 92 years old at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by her loved ones. The date is her beloved husband Jack's birthday. After almost 70 years of marriage Jack passed away February 21, 2012. Juanita missed him so much and God let her celebrate with him.
Juanita was born May 23, 1920, to Charles and Carrie (Naylor) Shultz in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Libbey High School in 1938 and enjoyed many interesting careers. Juanita worked in the personnel business and then in the travel industry. Along with her husband Jack, they started Tower Travel of Toledo which they owned for 15 years. This enabled them to travel around the world. Juanita's favorite trip was to Hong Kong and Jack's was the Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio.
Juanita was very active in the Ohio Eastern Star for over 50 years. She belonged to Ivolee Chapter, May Elliott and now to Palestine Chapter. In 1978 she was the Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Ohio for District 6. This group was great in 1978 and still continues to meet.
Juanita and Jack led the Methodist Youth Fellowship and also taught Sunday school for several years. With the Church of St. Andrew, they volunteered at the Good Samaritan for many years.
Juanita and Jack volunteered for many years at Reynolds Elementary School in the kindergarten and lunchroom. They always joked they never made it out of the kindergarten.
Juanita was the glue that held our family together. She dearly loved quality time with her family from playing cards to taking trips with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack, parents, and siblings, Reva Pomeranz, Dorothy Taylor, Donna Dittman and Rolland Shultz.
Her children, Doug, Susan (Jack) Finck, and Denny (Kim) survive. Juanita loved her 3 children but her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Brian, Matthew (Theresa), Michael, Todd, along with their mother Bonnie Bailey, Jack, Morgan (Brian Helmniak) survive. Her great-grandchildren are Gabriel and Chase Sanchez-Dittman. Juanita's life was enriched by her honorary grandchildren Chad, Eric, Adam, and Nicole Knaggs. Aunt Juanita also has many special nieces and nephews.
