Kendall GAISSER-SADLER Obituary

GAISSER-SADLER Kendall George 1-17-1919 ~ 1-11-2011 Kendall G. Gaisser-Sadler died peacefully on January 11, 2011, in Oakdale, Long Island. Born January 17, 1919, in Toledo, Ohio, the eldest of three boys, he grew up in Maumee and attended Waite High School. Kendall served in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WWII. He married Clarabelle Garvin in 1940, she died in 1968. They started Kendall G. Gaisser, Booksellers together, where they sold rare books, graphics and out-of-print books. He married Judith Beins, who died in 1978. In 1979, he married Mary Anne Sadler. He retired in 1984. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; daughters, Natalie Nessif (Dr. Terrance), Lynette Fox (John), Erin Englebert (Rik) and Jennifer; sons, Stuart and Allen; grandchildren, Sheila Dyer (Richard), Matthew Gaisser, Steven Hockenberger (Lydia), Sheri Hockenberger, Tony Gaisser (Amy), Michelle Haynes (Rob), Mark (Krystal) Gaisser, Jacquelyn, Alex and Katherine Fox, Cassie Gaisser and 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur (Eleanor) and Frederick (Angie) Gaisser and sons, Jonathan and Michael (Tina). A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of 33, Kendall will be greatly missed. He was a loving, passionate man with a love for cooking, opera, reading and family. Kendall was so proud of his family and enjoyed spending every minute with them, especially those special summers on Fire Island. He was blessed with a long life and time to come into his own, as a person. In 2002, Kendall was received into the Roman Catholic Church and was a daily mass communicant. He was an active member of numerous choirs, the Rare Books and Antiquarian Society, and St. John Nepomucene Church.
