Sabina,
I am so saddened to hear of the deaths of both your parents. When I first came to Toledo as pastor of Salem Lutheran in 1990, your dad stopped by one day to meet me, because he heard that my husband was Japanese. Some months later I also met your mother at some inter-Lutheran gathering. Whenever I saw either of them, they always inquired about my three children, Irene and Yuki and Maya, who are half-Japanese. They also told me about you and your children; they were so proud of them. I am grateful to have know both Les and Hiroko; they were delightful colleagues and friends. May God bless you as you mourn this great loss. You are in my prayers.
Sincerely, Mary Lou Baumgartner (formerly at Salem Lutheran in Toledo, now at King of Kings in New Windsor, New York)
