Lou Emma Taylor
Mrs. Lou Emma Taylor-Kirkland was born August 7, 1936, in Florence, Mississippi, to Hugh and Lou Emma (Jones) Taylor. She departed this earthly life on Friday, November 30, 2012.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Florence, Mississippi. After graduating from New Hope High School in Florence, Mississippi, she moved to Toledo, Ohio, where she became a cook at Holiday Inn; she was also employed at Tiedtke's. She later attended Stautzenberger College, majoring in the Medical Assistant Program.
In June, 1956 she married the late Less R. Kirkland of Philadelphia, Mississippi. From this union she had six children, Jesse Lee Kirkland, Cheryl Anita Kirkland-Paul (whom preceded her in death), Carol Ann Kirkland, Karen Joy Kirkland, Jackie Lynn Kirkland, and Brenda Dianne Kirkland.
She leaves to her memory one sister, Mrs. Sadie Mae (Taylor) Ravon; sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Taylor; sister-in-law, Mrs. Curtis Taylor; sister-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Kirkland; one brother-in-law, Mr. Ralph Kirkland; eleven grandchildren, Chamara Paul, Jessie Lee Kirkland Jr., Marquisha Paul, Ta'Lon Gregory Kirkland, Jalyn Jones, India Wright, JaTye Moody, Aris Moody and Paris Waites; two great-grandchildren, Em'Danea Kirkland and Caleb Kirkland.
A celebration home going will be held Friday, December 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. and services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home, Inc. 572 Nebraska Ave. Toledo, Ohio 43604. Interment will be at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Immediately following the cemetery committal services, passover will be served at Family Baptist Church, 1002 W. Bancroft St. Toledo, Ohio. Pastor Dr. Derek A. Arnold, I, Officiant.
