Marjorie ZIELINSKI Obituary

ZIELINSKI Marjorie Therese (Dery) Marjorie Therese (Dery) Zielinski passed away December 11, 2011, at the age of 84, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mom was born in Alpena, MI, but raised by the grey nuns at St. Mary Academy in Monroe. After high school graduation she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps at St. Vincent Hospital in 1945 and continued a long career as a RN, retiring in 1986. Mom had contemplated a life as a nun but she fell in love with a handsome sailor at "Mike's Bar" and married him in 1949. Stanley Zielinski preceded her in death in 1990, after 41 years of marriage. For the last 8 years, she resided at Swan Creek Retirement Village, where she enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo, and crafts. She will be missed by her many friends at Swan Creek and is survived by her sons, Michael (Denise) Zielinski, Marty (Ella) Zielinski; sister-in-law, Dorothy Toneff; grandchildren, Angie (Chris) McCrackin, Wendy (Chris) Fels, Jay Zielinski and Sara Zielinski, and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Luke, Aiden, Polly Kate, Alaina, Gracie, and Brooklyn. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., where funeral services will be held Wednesday December 14, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Mike and Marty,
My family and I regret your recent loss. We are sure your faith and happy memories will carry the day. Your Mom and Dad helped make Parkside a great place to be a kid. There remains many fond memories of our friends there.

Dear Mike and Marty,
So Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I have known her as my Aunt Marjorie, since she is my mother, Dorothy Dery McMillan's half sister. I feel sad about the story of the beginning of her life and all of the loss for her. I don't understand the choices made, but I guess it was different then. I'm glad my mom always stayed in touch with your mother. So nice to hear all of the wonderful things people have to say about your mother. She is an inspiration! Take Care! Please keep in touch. Marge was one of the most loyal and caring friends anyone could hope for. Her life was centered on helping others, always putting herself last. Our long friendship, as well as that of her husband, Stan, spanned over fifty years providing us with many wonderful memories that we will continue to cherish. The world is a much kinder place because of Marge and she will be missed. Our thoughts are with Mike and Marty and her many grandchildren whom she loved so very much.

Marjorie was a dear friend at Swan Creek to my mother, Myrtle. I had a wonderful visit with Majorie at Swan Creek's Christmas party on Dec 4th where my husband was Santa. So good to see her again. She was very kind and caring lady. Our deepest sympathy to you her family.
God Bless. -Mary and Charlie Carr

Margie was a dear friend to my mother, Sophie Sitek, and we had the pleasure of spending nice times together with her. Three years ago, she spent Christmas Day with us at our home. Just today, we received a Christmas card from her, which said, among other things, that . . . "All is well" . . . And now, this is especially true, as she is free of her illness and at rest, and reunited with her dear husband she so often spoke of. Margie was a sweet, lovely, caring, and fun lady. We will certainly never forget her. We extend our sincerest sympathy to the family.

I just received a Christmas card from Marjorie, telling me that she has moved to Perrysburg. Cathy, my daughter, said we could pick her up for lunch and visit. I guess God had another idea. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this sorrowful time.

There aren't enough words to express the sadness. The only joy is in knowing that Aunt Marge isn't in pain any more! She has gone to the Zielinski reunion in the sky :) Hope they are having a blast.
Love to you all, Linda & Mike and Family

I worked with your mother in the 70's at St Vincents. She was my head nurse. As a nursing assistant then RN, she taught me so much. I have been able to take that knowledge and use it over the years for my patients' care. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

The world has lost a wonderful person, and I have lost a great friend. Her pain is now over, but her joy is just beginning! That makes things a little easier. My prayers are with you Marge and with your family here.
