ZIELINSKI Marjorie Therese (Dery) Marjorie Therese (Dery) Zielinski passed away December 11, 2011, at the age of 84, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mom was born in Alpena, MI, but raised by the grey nuns at St. Mary Academy in Monroe. After high school graduation she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps at St. Vincent Hospital in 1945 and continued a long career as a RN, retiring in 1986. Mom had contemplated a life as a nun but she fell in love with a handsome sailor at "Mike's Bar" and married him in 1949. Stanley Zielinski preceded her in death in 1990, after 41 years of marriage. For the last 8 years, she resided at Swan Creek Retirement Village, where she enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo, and crafts. She will be missed by her many friends at Swan Creek and is survived by her sons, Michael (Denise) Zielinski, Marty (Ella) Zielinski; sister-in-law, Dorothy Toneff; grandchildren, Angie (Chris) McCrackin, Wendy (Chris) Fels, Jay Zielinski and Sara Zielinski, and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Luke, Aiden, Polly Kate, Alaina, Gracie, and Brooklyn. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., where funeral services will be held Wednesday December 14, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
