Mary Ann Ray passed away peacefully on May 7, 2013, in Naples. She was born on July 2, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of the late Louis P. Botta, M.D. and Anne Botta.

She attended John Carroll High School in Birmingham, Alabama and earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University. She married Buddy in 1969 while living in Atlanta, Georgia. They relocated to Toledo, Ohio, where she spent over twenty years. Upon retirement, they moved to Naples, Florida where Mary Ann enjoyed golf, bridge, volunteer work, and Florida living for almost twenty years. She will be remembered for her will to live, and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of forty-four years, Horace "Buddy" Ray; her daughter, Alyson Ray Rutberg; son-in-law, Neil Rutberg, and beloved granddaughter, Wynn. She is additionally survived by her brother, Nicholas Botta, D.D.S., his wife, Penny Botta, and nieces, Lisa, Wilson and Lori Conner. She was preceded in death by brother, Louis P. Botta, Jr.

Mary Ann is also survived by four step-children and spouses, David Ray, Lisa, and Al Larsen, Howie and Lisa Ray, and Gary Ray; as well as her step-grandchildren, Collin Ray, Patrick Ray, Sandra Ray, Christopher Ray, Chelsea Ray, Lindsey Ray, Matthew Ray and Caitlin Larsen.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. The family suggests that memorial gifts in Mary Ann's name be made to Avow Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home (239) 992-4982.
