Mildred Callaghan Granata Obituary
Mildred Callaghan Granata

Mildred T. Granata went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 9th, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Mary, with her son and daughters at her side. Millie was a strong woman of faith with an abiding faith and love of her family and friends.

Millie was born in Toledo on April 12, 1931 to John and Gretta (O'Hara) Callaghan. She gradated from Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Toledo. Together they had four children, shared wonderful times with family and friends, and also together bore the grief of losing their son Kevin in the 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech.

Millie's enjoyment of meeting new people was behind her chosen work as realtor and later part time credit counselor. Whether at work or at home with family and friends, Millie believed in finding reasons to celebrate life with shared stories and laugher, whether over a game of bridge, a dinner or a party. Her sense of humor was always present and together with her faith carried her through the difficulties of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; son, Kevin Patrick Granata; brothers, John Callaghan and James Callaghan; sisters, Eileen Callaghan, MaryJo Brenneman and Joan Walrod.

Remaining to cherish her memory are: her son, Paul (Karen) Granata; daughters, Eileen Granata and Anne (Steve) Macy; daughter-in-law, Linda Granata; grandchildren, Joe and James Granata, William (Deanna) Laney, Sean and Mara Macy, and Alex, Eric and Ellen Granata. Millie is also survived by her sister-in-law Kitty Callaghan and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Millie wished to convey to her family friends how much she loved them.
