Nathaniel Jaynes, 84, passed away December 16, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born May 5, 1929, in McGee, MS, he attended Jackson State University. He was an avid bowler, golfer, handyman and a friend and mentor to many. He was a 50+ year member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and worked at Unicast Corp for 25 years and retired from the YMCA in 1991 after 25 years of service. Nathaniel was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elaine Bohannon.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Mary L. Jaynes; children, Nathan Jaynes, Denise Jaynes, LaGrant Jaynes, Vickie (Jake) Gaffney, Shelia Jaynes, Anthony Jaynes and Keith Jaynes; brothers, E. L. (Ethel) Jaynes, Robert (Denise) Jaynes; sister, Regerlene Patton, both of Chicago, IL; two goddaughters, Shirley Blacksdshire and Channie Thomas; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday 3-5 p.m. at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, family hour Saturday 11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12 noon at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Rev. Raymond Bishop officiant, interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
