Paul Thacker, of Clayton, MI, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the age of 84. He was a long-time owner and operator of Mercury Printing Company in Toledo. He retired 20 years ago to enjoy his farm in Michigan. Paul was an avid outdoorsman, farmer and gardener. He always looked forward to sharing the bounty of his farm and garden with his friends and family.
Paul was born on February 8, 1929, in Franklin, OH, to Zachary and Nettie (Dickson) Thacker. He is preceded in death by his parents and his seven older brothers and sisters. He is survived by his long-time, cherished companion, Darlene Nowak, and 6 loving children, Sandra (Thomas) Snider, Paula (George) Madden, Terry (Catherine) Thacker, Anthony (Genevieve) Thacker, Patrick (Renee') Thacker, Eric (Philip Ho) Thacker; as well as his 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; many loving friends and his canine best friends, Chipper and Ranger.
Paul was a lifelong fan of Ohio sports teams, including the Indians, Reds and Buckeyes. In addition, he enjoyed harness horse ownership, traveling, bicycling, fishing, hunting and classic TV Westerns.
A visit to "Grandpa's farm" was relaxing, enjoyable and always memorable. His Thanksgiving feasts where he proudly displayed his cooking skills with home grown bounty, including the turkey, will remain legendary.
Paul was a devout Catholic. As were his wishes, a memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson Michigan.
