Richard P.

Richard P. Eells, 87 years, of Temperance, MI passed away February 21, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. The son of Milton and Marie (Geisert) Eells, he was born on January 7, 1926, in Toledo, OH. Richard graduated from Waite High School. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. While serving, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge as member of General George S. Patton's Third Army division. He was wounded twice receiving two Purple Hearts. For his heroic and meritorious service he received three Bronze Stars. He was granted an honorable discharge from the Army on January 30, 1946.

On September 23, 1950, he married Donna Cook in Toledo, OH. Together they raised two sons, Robert P. and Warren P. Eells. He was employed by O.L. Mears, Inc. and served as General Manager of Motor Parts Service. He also served as Director of Parts and Vice-President of Grogan Chrysler Plymouth, retiring in 1984. Richard was very active in his community a member of the Lion's Club, Junior Achievement of NW Ohio, Inc., The American Legion and River View Yacht Club. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed football, basketball, boating, traveling, camping, custom car shows, and car auctions. He was a man of many interests who loved his family and loved life. After retiring, Richard and Donna moved to Marco Island, FL. In recent years, they returned to their home in Michigan. Richard was a devoted Christian and longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna; his sons, Robert (Julie), Warren (Terri); sister, Joette (Clayton) Scott, and niece and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James C.O. Eells.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park with Military Honors.
