Robert DANEY Obituary

DANEY Robert "Rob" Sr. W8RBR Robert B. Daney, Sr., 90, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Rob served as Superintendent of Communications for the City of Toledo, before retiring in 1982, after more than 32 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of W.W. II serving with the 62nd Signal Corps, in the Philippines, as a radio intercept operator. He continued this interest in radio for the next 75 years, as an Amateur Radio Operator using the call sign W8RBR. Rob recently enjoyed the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. where he toured the five veteran memorials. He was a long-time member of Conn-Weissenberger Post 587, of the American Legion. Rob was a long and active member of both the Blessed Sacrament and the St. Clement Catholic Church Parishes. He was a member of the first, first grade class of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rob enjoyed many years of coaching CYO sports and was proud to be a member of the St. Francis DeSales Knights of the Round Table volunteer organization. Rob is survived by daughters, Nancy (Jeffery) Jordan, Janet (Thomas) Titkemeier; sons, Robert, Jr. (Mary) and Thomas (Janet) Daney; grandchildren, John (Cheryl), Jeffrey (Lisa), Jennifer (Lee), Jessica, Lyndsey, Ryan, Blair (Curt), Drew, Blake, Clay, and Paige; great-grandchildren, Cathy, Sara, Alexandra, Jeana, Stephen, Sam, Caleb, Joah, Daniel and Andrew Sharp and sister-in-law, Rosemary Daney. Rob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Millie of 62 years; brothers, Donald (Mary Ellen), Bernard (Rosemary) and Warren "Joe" (Dorothy) Daney. Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Sunday January 3rd from 4 - 9 PM, where the Conn-Weissenberger Post of the American Legion will perform services at 7:45 PM, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Monday at 11 AM, where Rob's body will lie in state one-hour prior. He will then be laid to rest beside Millie at Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to give memorials, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider, the St. Francis DeSales Academic Scholarship Fund, 2323 West Bancroft St, Toledo, OH, 43607.
