Robert D. Lightner, 94, of Cresthaven Lane, passed Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2012. Bob attended Scott High School and was active as a counselor with YMCA Camp Storer. He graduated from Miami University where he was head cheerleader and a leader of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. It was at Miami that he met his wife, Patty. During World War II Bob served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He spent his corporate career with Owens-Corning Fiberglas where he served in management while going out of his way to encourage and help others with their professional development.

Bob was an exceptionally friendly individual who reached out to, and cared deeply about those around him. With genuine expressions of interest and his ever positive outlook, he built many warm and lasting relationships. In the final struggles of her life, Bob served as a dedicated and loving care giver to his wife Patty. His family drew strength and inspiration from his words of encouragement and the many fine examples that he set.

Bob enjoyed living his final years at Swan Creek Retirement Village where each day he enthusiastically looked forward to making new friends and sharing his life with his many valued companions.

Bob is survived by his children, Robbin Busch, Columbus, Ohio and Douglas (Pamela) Lightner, Copley, Ohio; His grandchildren are Laura (Brian) Koprowski and Michael (Amy) Busch, Renee and Stephen Lightner. Bob also took great pride in his six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Dylan Koprowski, and Grant, Jack, Ava and Caleb Busch.

There will be a memorial service in the chapel at the Swan Creek Retirement Village, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
