Ruby L.

(1930 - 2013)

Ruby was born April 13, 1930, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Willie Isaac Hall and Annie Laura Mullin. She went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2013.

Like many African Americans during that time, at the age of 21 Ruby moved north from Mississippi to Toledo, OH in 1951 seeking better opportunities. She worked diligently at several jobs in various capacities, including Rossford Ordinance Depot, Hunter's and Bud's Carryouts, Lamson's Cafeteria, Rochelle's Boutique, and Casual Corner, to name a few. She was also a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church (Toledo, OH), the Adah Chapter#20 Order of Eastern Star AF & AM, and the Jamaican Cricket Club.

She married Lewis Christie in 1966, and remained a faithful and loving wife until his passing in 2006. She was also a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and was always generous and willing to help with her neighbors and in her community.

She was preceded in passing by her husband, Lewis George Christie; mother and father, and her brother, Willie T. Hall. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Paul J. (Peggy) Hall; daughter, Lori Anne (Brian) Huckaby; grandson, Paul J. Hall Jr.; granddaughter, Gabrielle Huckaby; great-granddaughter, Tyla Hall; niece, Valerie Durden-Craig, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at House of Day, 2550 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, OH 43607, with family hour at 11:00 a.m.
