Sarah E. Rupert Obituary
Sarah E. Rupert

Sarah E. Rupert, 69, having lived over ten years with metastatic breast cancer, died peacefully at her home in Napoleon, Ohio, on Wednesday, September 12, while listening to Bach's St. John Passion performed by Apollo's Fire with whom Sarah sang when it was recorded in 1999. It was, as Sarah would say, music to die for.

Sarah was born in Bradner, Ohio to the late Louis and Anna Louise (Deuble) Witker. On June 14, 1970, she married Lee Rupert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville, Ohio; the same church where she was baptized and confirmed.

Sarah attended Capital University and attained a Bachelor's degree in Religion. She worked as an insurance agent for Huntington Insurance in Ohio and previously an agency in West Virginia. However, her main passion in life was music and voice. She strived to be a professional vocalist and her talents led her to sing with Apollo's Fire, Cleveland's Baroque Orchestra, in its beginning years.

Sarah was always a helping hand to her church and community. She coached girls high school basketball and volleyball for a period and was a proud member of the Henry County Democratic Party's Central Committee. She was an advocate in the fight for cancer and proudly walked in the Henry County and was a Pink Ribbon Lady. She is a member of Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Ohio.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Dennis (Natalie) Rupert of Aurora, Illinois and Lars Rupert of Powell, Ohio; grandchildren, Tristan and Luke; and sisters, Cathryn Nihiser of Lima, Ohio, Carolyn Koehl of Blue Ash, Ohio, Ruth (David) Kinley of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Janet Witker of Pemberville, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 17th at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Avenue, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon, Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Henry County , Ohio Living Hospice, Zoar Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
