I haven't stopped thinking of Shannon and all she did for the animals in King George while she lived here. Her energy, enthusiasm and love for the animals was so sincere. The last time I saw her it was to give her a cat from the county kill shelter to take to a rescue that would find him a new home. She drove him all the way to DC. She was very kind to me and I am glad I was able to know her, even though the time was short.

Shannon was a spirited young girl and always made us laugh. I played volleyball with her at CCHS ('94) and she was very talented and had a great sense of humor. Rich, my brother Ron told me of your loss of Shannon. I can only pray that you hold close to the Lord as he sees you and your family through this difficult time. One thing I've been learning is that God does not answer the "why", but he will stand close and answer the "how" with regards to how to help you through this difficult time. Hold close her memories and that will give you joy as you move past the grieving. We go way back when you were running YL clubs in Toledo and I was doing the same in Columbus. I live in Richmond, Va, but family is still in Toledo. I wish I knew you were there because I would have been glad to touch base when I visited. Perhaps that can still happen in the near future. I will pray for you and your family that you will be strengthened in your current trial. Blessings

I am a friend of Shannon's sister Katelyn. Over the years, I've gotten to know the Pivoriunas family lore mainly through Kate, including a bowling shirt Kate wore from her grandmother. I only got to know Shannon mostly through this beautiful video she made - which became a national finalist for Cover Girl's Stand Up for Beauty contest last March/April, 2010. In the video, Shannon showed how to make the land, the water and life beautiful. I was so moved by it. It still moves me to this very day. The energy was so beautiful.
I am deeply saddened by Shannon's passing and want to extend my support for the Pivoriunas family. Kate helped me out so much when I lost my brother Ming, 29, in 2008. I wanted to send my deepest appreciation here for all the Pivoriunas family has shown the world. I saw bigger in life through the Pivoriunas grace, kindness, wit and outlook. And for that I'm grateful.
