Vincent Bortolo

Vincent Bortolo DeCesare, age 68, of Toledo, passed away at home on Saturday, January 5, 2013, after battling mesothelioma. He was born on December 11, 1944, in Toledo, OH to Malio and Lena (Dorfilio) DeCesare. He attended Saints Peter and Paul Grade School and was a 1963 graduate of Macomber High School. Vincent was a Veteran of the US Army and Army Reserve. He worked for family businesses Milo & Son Concrete and Sam Geraldo Construction; also, Art Iron Steel 1964-1966, Champion Spark Plug 1966-1991, Great Lakes 1993-2000, and then part-time as a Union Stage Hand. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved spending time with his beloved family. He also enjoyed talking to friends on his daily walks through the neighborhood, and the weekly gatherings with his retired siblings at his sister's home - where he always brought the donuts. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patricia (Volpe) DeCesare; children, Tammy (Bruce) Sutton, Vincent M. DeCesare, Amy Steele and Angie Green; grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Courtney, Mackenzie, Sydney and Brennan; great-grandson, Drake; brother, Malio DeCesare; sisters, Gloria Schiavone and Jennie Childers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Severhof, and brother, Rudolph DeCesare.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a Scripture Service at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
